Jeremy Parsons

Jeremy Parsons Why is the country music genre, your genre of choice to perform?
~ Country music is my genre of choice as a performer because it has been my favorite format since childhood; I grew up with country music playing in the background. The writing and vocal style just comes naturally to me. …and to be honest, when you hear my voice, you’ll understand…there really is no other option, I’ve just got too much dang twang!!!

If everything and anything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people do you think should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ The two people I would have loved to see get together for the ultimate Country duet would be Tammy Wynette and Hank Williams Sr.! They both sang with such raw emotion and feeling…and together it would have been extremely powerful—Magical!

What song (that you've recorded) means the most to you and why?
~ “The Night Hank Williams Died.” This song is very important to me because Hank Sr. is my hero; I wrote it specifically him. It’s my tribute to Hank Sr. and all that he did for the Country Music format and for all that he did to inspire many others, to do what we do. Over and over, I enjoy the great response that this song continues to receive!

What song do you wish you had recorded and why?
~ I wish I could have recorded Lefty Frizzell’s “Don’t Think It Ain’t Been Fun, Dear.” Although it was never a hit for Lefty, I’ve always enjoyed the humor and catchy melody.

Who would you like to collaborate with or what renowned songwriter would you like to write a song especially for you?
~ When it comes to collaborating with or even having someone write a song specifically for me, I would pick Willie Nelson hands down!

Who is your personal favorite recording artist and why?
~ Hank Williams Sr. is my all-time favorite recording artist. He was, and continues to be, my favorite because of the emotion that he was able to deliver through his recordings. What’s even greater is that he was the writer of most of the songs that he recorded.

Whiskey?  Wine?  Beer?  Soft drink?  Milk or Water? What is your favorite beverage of choice? (Include name and why.)
~ Dr. Pepper! …because it makes the whole world taste better!!!

What is a question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would?  (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ It’s a kind of “out there” question: “If you had the choice of making music in the 50s or just staying in the present and making music today, which would you choose?”
Answer:
I would definitely stay in the present. As much as I would’ve loved to be around in the 50s, I enjoy making my style of music today and being unique. I’ve been told “I’m a blast from the past,” so, I have the best of both now and then!

Describe the ultimate recording studio (we are more interested in the facilities than the technique).
~ My ultimate recording studio would be one that used all vintage equipment from mics to speakers. It would also be nice if it were all analog equipment because I’ve always wanted to record an album the very same way my heroes did.

Describe the ultimate performance/stage and why you would like to perform there.
~ It would be BIG for me to perform on the Grand Ole’ Opry. Specifically, at the Ryman, where it all began.

What are your top favorite 3 songs of all time (any genre)?
~ Hank Williams- “Alone And Forsaken”
   Bob Wills- “Blues For Dixie”
Tennessee Ernie Ford- “Milk em’ In The Mornin’ Blues”

What song or recording artists, as a teenager, do you hate to admit (now) that you actually liked?
~ I’m embarrassed to admit that I listened to is N’SYNC and honestly, I still kind of like their music.

Looking back at high school, what is the one thing you would change or like to forget?
~ I’d like to forget my Freshman year. I had a lot of difficulty in a lot of my classes and although things did get better, that was a very stressful time in my life.

Do you have an "ick" food?  (What is it and why?)
~ I do not like asparagus. No matter how hard I try, I can’t ever bring myself to like it.

What is the one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
~ Some people may be surprised to know that I don’t drink alcohol and have never been drunk. I just haven’t acquired the taste or the desire.
