Exclusive Interview with Joe Fournier
Why country music ?
~ I listen to all kinds of music but when I play and sing, it comes out country sounding for some reason.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ It's already been done - George and Tammy!
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ Probably 'Real Cool Car' - my idealized childhood.
What took you so long to release your first album?
~ I didn't have anything to say, or I wasn't ready to say it before that first record.
Whisky wine beer or water?
~ I have to choose??
If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ The invention of cellphones.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ They never ask if I prefer tex-mex or cowboy style chili. It's Tex mex.
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Hmm.. well, I'm working on that right now. Starting in the spring, I'll be open for business. 8 tracks, analog, tubes and wires, pine floors, oil tank echo, honky tonk piano. Gonna be sweet.
What do you consider the most important change in country music and what are
your thoughts about it?
~ Maybe the best thing to change has been internet and alternative radio. It allows real and interesting country and roots music to still thrives outside of the crappy commercial mainstream.
Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny for the music, June for the yahoo!
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any
"rituals" to calm you nerves.
~ I don't get too nervous these days. I like to show up just before I have to go on and then work out the audience and gig during the first tune.
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ First time I played ion a European stage. Great audiences. really know their stuff and appreciate the show.
