Exclusive Interview with Jones and Fischer

Jones and Fischer

About Jones and Fischer

Why country music ?
~ Darin: Its the music of the people! You can talk about anything, understand lyrics, and soak in the melodies. I know some may say its more southern rock; but I remember the first time I heard ‘Cant You See’ … I was hooked like a fish, I just had to be involved with the genre and what made songs like that hit my soul.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Caleb: Duey Cox and Jenna Fisher, because ‘Lets Duet’ was a masterpiece that deserves a follow up.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ Caleb: “Perfect Kinda Crazy”. It was our first song we recorded in Nashville, that we are pushing to country radio. It’s a culmination of experiences Darin and I have had with crazy women, but that we secretly loved and sometimes maybe even incited.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Caleb: Kacey Musgraves, being a fellow Texan, I think she would come up with something great, like she always does.

How would you like to spend a day with each other when you were not allowed to make music or to talk about music?
~ Darin: We don’t know! That has never happened since the first day we met. Music is our common denominator, and what we are both passionate about, so its all we really do or talk about with each other. Although, we do listen to a lot of Joe Rogan podcasts on the road, so there’s that!

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ Darin: How my beard stays looking regal! I go to a barber shop in Mill Creek, WA called Weldon Barber every three weeks and get it looking sharp again.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Darin: It has to be comfortable, with colors and decor that help us not be stiff and rigid during that creative process. The environment during the recording process has everything to do with how the music comes out, I believe. Couches are a plus, ability to have mood lighting with different color schemes, lounging area’s for between takes, etc.

Johnny or June ?
~ Caleb: Johnny. He is the most iconic country singer of all time. June surely helped mold him into the man and performer he was. Like they say, behind every great man, is an even better woman, right?

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ Darin: Not anymore, we have done so many live shows that its not nerve racking anymore, no matter how many people. Our confidence comes from our preparation. We don’t have any rituals per say; but we love to get to the venue with plenty of time to load in, sound check, eat, shower, and relax a bit before we amp it up for the stage.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ Caleb: Our fist support slot for a bigger act, Blackberry Smoke, whom we were already huge fans of. Being in that environment and seeing the behind the scenes of such professionalism and talent for the first time was a wonderful educational experience that really molded how we approached every single show after, to date.
