Exclusive Interview with Kate Ryan

Kate Ryan Why country music ?
~ Truthfully, I listen to so many different types of music, and country is the only genre that has songs that can make me cry my eyes out and songs that can make me feel just so blissful and fully alive.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ I think mixing the old and the new is always a good idea and since I have the option, I would have to say that the ultimate country duet would be a ballad with George Strait and John Denver. That would score all the ladies.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ "Everywhere You Go" is my motto. It's everything to me. The whole song is just so important and it's what the world needs right now. It's hard for us to understand but we are literally made of love. We radiate love. It's everywhere and everyone needs to embrace it.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Do they have to be alive? Because I would definitely have to say Frank Sinatra. If we're talking only living artists, I'd say Michael Bublé. Crooners, man. Gotta love 'em.

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ Coffee! I am not at legal drinking age yet.

Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ The radio has quite a knack for overplaying songs. Which always mean the songs are amazing and this one is no exception. "Lose My Mind" by Brett Eldredge. It's SUCH a catchy song and I love it, but it's so dangerous to overplay a song because people get sick of it. I do that all the time. When I find a song, I listen to it for hours and hours - I'm not exaggerating - and in just a few hours, I just can't listen to it anymore. I know I'm not alone in this.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ I feel like interviewers never ask the important questions. Like what's my favorite color? Possibly green. Whats my favorite fruit? Maybe pineapple. What animated character would I date? Probably Hiccup from How To Train Your Dragon or Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians, but who could know for sure? Since no one ever asks. Thanks for asking though, those were actually the real answers.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ It would be in space, obviously, or just floating. Maybe it would have actual giant wings. That'd be pretty cool. It would be a traveling recording studio, so it could fly to the artist, rather than the artist having to come to it. The inside would be themed differently for whatever the artist wants. The lights could change color to blue for underwater themed. Or red if they're recording a love song. It would be made up of all windows but there would be a button you could punch to cover all the windows with a black-out curtain if you wanted to.

Johnny or June ?
~ Oh wow this is a stressful question. They're both so incredible. My whole family loves Johnny Cash. There's probably about five Johnny Cash shirts floating around throughout my family. He had an extraordinary career and released tremendous music. And he could seriously rock black!

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any "rituals" to calm you nerves?
~ I think a little bit of nerves is actually pretty awesome, because you can redirect it into making your performance even better. Before I go onstage, I listen to really loud, fast, drum heavy rock music. That sounds a little weird now that I think about it but that's what I do, and I jump around to it and pretty much continue to jump right until the point that I enter the stage. It really brings the energy out.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ A day after the release of "Now Revolution", I had a launch party for the album and the Now Revolution music video. (check it out here: http://bit.ly/1hbAvIK ) I got to show it to everyone I grew up with and I got to perform the songs for the first time in front of a crowd. That night was a true blessing and I could feel the connection that my friends had to the music.
