Why country music ?
~ I play extremely non-conventional country music. I love any music that comes from the heart and I just happened to grow up in an area where Blues, Conjunto, Polka all got mixed up. I play what I know and it is a VERY San Antonio style that stems from the Delta thru New Orleans to the migrants of Mexico and falling upon German and Polish settlers. I’m always getting people thinking I’m Cajun or sometimes Mexican but I’m not, I’m just a 5th generation Texican from San Antonio. To answer the question why? It was a natural progression to the roots of my relatives.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ I think I’d like to hear Mercedes Sosa and Willie Nelson together, that would have been very nice.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ West Coast Blues (Lonely Kind) It connects the most and it was the easiest song to write. I just plucked it out of the air while my wife and I were cleaning the house.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Bonnie Barnard

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ What is water?

What is the question interviewers never asked you while you were always hoping they would. (and give us your answer)?
~ Dad-gum, I think I been asked just about everything.. I wish someone wanted to know more about the struggle it has been to keep playing music and stay in San Antonio and why we are here. Answer : It is complicated, Joe and LLoyd both have Grammy’s but they love playing in the Swindles, I guess we are a family of sorts going on 15 years. We all have managed to eek out a living and buy homes, raise family’s and artistically do as we please. It’s a good musical environment. HOT but good. If we lived in Austin we would have broken up I bet.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Big rooms, good mics, bathroom, kitchen, musical cat with diamond ears behind the board and a small town about 10 miles away with an airport.

Johnny or June ?
~ I cannot separate them, however "Johnny Cash And His Hot And Blue Guitar" was my 2nd or 3rd record. OK, Johnny..

Give us your top 3 country songs ever.
~ Remember me, I’m The One Who Loves You
    Cheating Heart
    He Stopped Lovin Her Today

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ Playing in France for the Country Rendezvous Festival. I hope I get to play in Europe again, it was fantastic.
