Exclusive Interview with Shawna Russell

Shawna Russell Why country music ?
~ Country music is known for it's storytelling aspect and that is what I love most about the genre. It really makes for a strong connection between the performer and the audience.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ I think Glen Campbell and Linda Ronstadt are two of the greatest vocalists ever, so I think they would make an amazing country duet.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ All of the songs that I write or co-write are special to me, but the song "Jeremiah" from my sophomore album is one of my favorites. It is the first song I wrote by myself.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Having Karla Bonoff write a song for me would be pretty cool.

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ I love good whiskey...in moderation of course!

If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ I don't think that I would change anything. It is good to have learning experiences and be able to grow from them.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ They usually seem to ask all of the good questions! I wouldn't mind answering a few more questions about my beautiful new PRS guitar...

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I am basically good with a vocal booth free of clutter that isn't too cold! I'm not too picky!

Johnny or June ?
~ I really admire June for her songwriting and that she traveled and performed with her family.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any "rituals" to calm you nerves.
~ I don't get too nervous before a performance, but I am always more comfortable if I am able to do my pre-show vocal warm up.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ When I performed with fellow country artist, Ty England, we had the opportunity to travel to South Korea with the USO organization. We performed for the troops there on the 4th of July. It was an unforgettable experience for me.
