Exclusive Interview with Western Avenue

Western Avenue Why country music ?
~ There is something about country music that I believe speaks to everyone's soul. We are all from Rural areas in Canada where country music is the music of choice & just fell into it naturally.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Wow! Soo many options! I for one would love to see Western Avenue do a duet with Lady Antebellum one day ;)

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ We would have to say "Highway Headin' Out of Town". Mostly for the simple reason that this song was the tune that kick-started our career on the National stage. It was March of 2012 that the 3 of us sat down & really decided to pursue our passion & this was the very first song that we recorded & released to Canada Radio. Was a moment we will never forget!

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ I think the 3 of us would probably agree on this one...Rick Springfield!

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ Can we choose all of the above?! Haha. Depends on the evening. This evening for instance = a few glasses of Merlot Red Wine!

If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ We would of sped things up & released our first single to radio a few years ago. Looking back though, everything happens for a reason & we needed to learn some life lessons at the time. We're very grateful for where we are now & are striving to become better!

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ How would you like to spend a day with each other when you were not allowed to make music or to talk about music?....oh wait! Haha (see below)

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any "rituals" to calm you nerves.
~ Yes definitely still get a little bit nervous before each performance. A lot of those nerves have turned into a refined focus right before we hit the stage now though. We're more so just excited about what we have to do & how we can put on a great performance.
Pre-Show Ritual = Pushups...lots of pushups. haha

Johnny or June ?
~ Can't answer for the whole band on this one. For me personally = Johnny all the way. There is such a darkness & authenticity about his voice that is captivating. A true pioneer!

How would you like to spend a day with each other when you were not allowed to make music or to talk about music?
~ We would most likely spend most of the day at a gym pumping some iron, then probably a trip to the local Starbucks, followed up with watching a Muppet Movie, push-up contest before dinner, trip to Swiss Chalet for dinner, after dinner comedy movie & then a final band flex-off to end an exhausting day!

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ The most memorable day for all of us was probably February 1, 2013. We got to play at the iconic Victoria Hall for a Sold-Out Debut CD Release party! Was an amazing event & was the climax of all our dedication, time away from our families & hard work that we put into making a successful first album. We'll never forget that night!
