About Amanda Rosser

  • Interview date: May 11, 2016

Why country music ?
~ I chose country music because that is pretty much all I ever knew growing up. My mom loved Garth Brooks and my Uncle, before he passed from Cystic Fibrosis, loved George Strait. My mom tells everyone the story of me sitting in my car seat at 2 years old, singing “This Kiss” by Faith Hill. Country music is what helped make me who I am. It goes along with my southern roots and I fell in love with it the moment I heard it.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ I think the ultimate duet would be Kelsea Ballerini and Miranda Lambert. So much blonde hair and powerful voices and personalities.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ So far the only one I’ve recorded in a professional studio is “Looking for a Man”. So I would have to say that song. It is real and honest and cuts down on all the fluff that goes into loves song. It is real life and I don’t apologize for it.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ I would love to sing a song written by Sam Hunt. He is incredibly talented at putting together stories and lyrics.

What is the one thing that most readers/fans don’t know about you?
~ I actually work in student ministry administration part time at Journey Church Texas in Kingwood and play in their Worship band on weekends. I love ministry and want to keep it as a part of my life.

Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ Honestly, I think that every song played on the radio is on the radio for a reason. Any artist who has worked hard enough to be recognized by radio deserves to be on there. Although radio do play some songs out, I have never thought “this song should NOT be on radio”.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ Interviewers never seem to ask me why it is I want to do what I am doing. I know that I am called to such a higher purpose and I think the public platform I am being given is going to allow me to be an example for those around me that are my age and younger. I have a passion for ministering and leading young girls and be the positive role model they need.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ RCA Studio B. No contest.

Johnny or June ?
~ June for sure. She was such a powerful woman and voice for so many young girls. She was able to make Johnny a better man and I think that is amazing in and of itself.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I get excited more than nervous most of the time. If it’s a newer and bigger stage, then I have some jitters, but I always pray over the stage and my gift I’ve been given and remind myself that my gift to create and perform music is not my own but God given.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ The most memorable day was when I got to co-write and record my song with Jeff Pardo. I have never been so excited in my life to be able to do what I love professionally.
