Exclusive Interview with American Young
About American Young
-
Interview date: February 25, 2016

Country: USA (Nashville, Tennessee)
Why country music ?
~ Country music is where my heart lives. I grew up playing barn dances.
all over Canada and to me that is how the values and stories of life
are passed to the next generation. Hence American Young.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Freddy Mercury and Janice Joplin
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ For me (Kristy) it would be the train song. It was pretty much my
therapy burn letter. I didn’t really want it on the record at first,
but it has really healed my family in so many ways. It really brought
a lot of closure for a lot of things in my life I needed to let go. I
know if it helped me like that, it will probably help another.
Jon: Train. It’s so honest
Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Kristy: Max Martin
Jon: Don Henley
Whisky wine beer or …?
~ Anything natural
Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ Any type of boot in the ass song. Evolution is a wonderful thing.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ What are u wearing.
Kristy: Yoga pants, a shirt my favorite publisher brought me back
from Thailand and a unicorn mask from our manager.
Jon: Shorts, T-shirt, flip flops, sun glasses
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ My ultimate recording studio would be on a beach. Why did we not put
Music City on an island?
Johnny or June ?
~ I’ve always been a little reckless and self destructive by nature, so
I feel like I relate to Johnny so much more. His lyrics, his
melodies, his black. But I feel like June is who we all try to be.
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ Kristy: I practice yoga. And practice violin. Both keep me breathing.
Jon: This is what I love to do, so I’m excited to take the stage.
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ Kisty: The very first time I played in Europe my first venue the Vatican
for the Pope for five o clock mass. I felt like after that, the rest
was just details.
Jon: Singing with Motley Crue in the Studio. They’re my idols.
