Why country music ?
~ Country music is so honest. We both came from country roots so it’s hard not to be a little country, especially in our songwriting. Even though I wouldn’t say we’re the most country writers in the world, we definitely are influenced by our country heros, along with others.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Ya can’t get much better than when Willie and Merle get together. Although it’d be fun to see Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash sing a song together for us today!

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ It’s hard to pick. At the moment, probably “Angels Come Home”. We both got pretty good at writing sad songs before we got together. So this love stuff is exciting haha. Not to say all our new stuff is going to be love songs, definitely not, but this one is definitely special to us.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ It’d be a tie between Stapleton, John Mayer, Buddy Miller, and Lori McKenna

What is the one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
~ Well if you follow us on snapchat, you know that we LOVE dressing up in costumes and going out and pranking people. Or making up our own characters with the snapchat filters haha. Other things: Troy is a GREAT dancer, and Kassie is really into thrifty interior design.

Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ Wagon Wheel. Loved it at first, but this is getting ridiculous.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ I don’t think a lot of people realize the sacrifices musicians have to make, especially one’s without significant financial backing, something that labels used to supply to artists. It’s been a hush-hush subject for a lot of interviews so we can all look like we’re leading this “no-worries” fancy lifestyle, when in reality, we are working our butts off just to stay afloat. Fans need to realize just how important they are to us, and it is up to the artist to get that message out there any chance they have.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Right now we are recording everything out of our garage so I’d say somewhere with heat and air and more space haha! But on a serious note, any comfortable and clean environment. Maybe one with a nice view outside, somewhere to get the creative juices flowing. And fresh coffee on hand at all times. Lots of it.

Johnny or June ?
~ Very tough. I’d have to say Johnny. I don’t know if June would have been the June we know without Johnny. He seemed to help people in this industry go against the grain a little bit.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I’m not sure if it’s nervousness as much as excitement, but to calm the jitters, honestly, what usually does it is a shot of whiskey or bourbon. Don’t judge!

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ For us together as a duo, we’d have to say last year singing the National Anthem at the Belk Bowl Game was pretty amazing. Although we told all our family the wrong channel to watch for the anthem and they watched the one that cut off the pre-show haha, we did have a couple fans that caught the anthem on a different channel. That was the biggest crowd Troy and I had performed for and it was AMAZING. Other than that, I’d say when I was on Ed McMahon’s Star Search as a child and made it to the semi-finals with comedian Kevin James. That was pretty cool.
