Why country music ?
~ I’m a sucker for a good storytelling song, and country music is littered with ’em! I love to write songs that can evoke a memory or paint a picture and, for me, country music does it best.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Joy Williams (The Civil Wars) and Lefty Frizzell. The song? "Long Black Veil"

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ Hey Mister Night was the first song I ever wrote so is very personal and special. The guest appearance of Mark Knopfler on my first ever composition makes it even more special to me – something I’ll always cherish!

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Bruce Springsteen.

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ A good red with food, a cold beer after a long, hot Summer day (remember those?)

If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ I missed meeting Mark Knopfler at the Hey Mister Night / Miss You Bad session by 10 minutes because I stopped to grab my Telecaster on the way… All for a signature, I missed the moment! Carpe Diem…

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ I know exactly what will happen if I tell you, so I’ll keep it to myself! The question I’m MOST frequently asked is "How did you get Mark Knopfler involved on your album and single?"

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Reel-to-Reel 24 track analogue with authentic, vintage equipment and low-lighting. Dimly lit and moody. Study a shot or two of Sun Studio, Memphis and you’ll get the picture…

Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny – the grit, the "devil may care" attitude, the fire in the belly…

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ Anybody who tells you otherwise is lying – putting yourself out there and open to criticism is always nerve-wracking and the only ritual is to make sure you’re prepared. No ju-ju or group therapy can get the better of preparation and practice.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ I sat and chatted with Julian Lennon during the OJ Simpson highway I-405 chase on June 17th, 1994. He was recording in the next studio to me at Westside in London at the time and, during a short break, we were both drawn to the live news coverage on the TV so both sat and watched the whole thing developing. He was a really nice guy, very easy to talk to and it was a surreal moment for me, a 21 year-old John Lennon fan! I was working with writer/producer Christopher Neil at that time, a real cool experience in itself!
