Exclusive Interview with CJ Solar

CJ Solar

About CJ Solar

Why country music ?

~ I’ve always loved a good song. When I started playing music, I found I loved songs more than I loved playing the instruments… And country music has the best kind of songs because they actually say something!

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Chris Stapleton and Alison Krauss

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ I’ve demo’d a lot of songs that meant a lot to me that didn’t make it on the EP, but “Little More Time” is a special song that touches on a lot of feelings guys like me have felt … about wishing they could do things over again and asking God for forgiveness.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Well, I like to write all my songs but I’ve been a huge Jeffrey Steele fan for a long time and would love to write one with him.

Whisky wine beer or …?
~ Tall Boys!

Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ I’m excited where radio is going and think that there are a lot great songs coming out now. I’m just ready for good songs to be the next trend in music. I can’t really pick just one song that I’d rather not hear again…

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ What’s your favorite motto/words to live by? “Life’s a garden, dig it…” From my favorite movie, Joe Dirt!

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I would love to track down at FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, AL one day because of the history of everything that got cut down there and all of the incredible music that came from that area.

Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny. When the most famous picture of someone is them flipping off the camera… You know they were a rebel.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I usually don’t get nervous unless I think about it too much, so it’s better if I just go with the flow than think about what’s coming next. I’ll probably forget the words trying to remember what they are!

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ The most memorable day in my musical career so far was a few weeks ago when I played at the Opry House for the first time. Standing on the circle was a moment I’ll never forget!
