Exclusive Interview with Dianna Corcoran
Why country music?
~ It chose me! Country music was a part of my life from an early age, and as a true country girl, it was far more authentic for me to gravitate toward the genre. Although country is not quite as honest as it used to be, I always maintain my honest approach to the story telling in my songs.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Michael Jackson and Prince. Although they're not country, their talent and voices are beyond extraordinary. They would NAIL a country classic in harmony together.
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ I wrote a song years ago called, "If You Hear Angels". I wrote it for my dad who was ill, the chorus came to me right by his bedside. I lost him in 2013.
Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Taylor Swift and Max Martin... that combination is powerful.
Whisky wine beer or...?
~ Milk... Hahaha... still my favorite go to beverage! Although, I have sunk many a beer or two.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ What did you actually study? Answer: Private Inquiry, to become a private investigator.
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I love so many of them. I recorded my album at Ocean Way in Nashville. It's an old church that a state-of-the-art studio was fitted into. Now it is one of the best studios in the world. I also LOVE to record in Tiny Room Studios in Sweden. It's amazing what big sounds come out of a tiny 100sq/f room and a computer.
Johnny or June ?
~ June. love the power in her songwriting. I doubt we would have seen as much of Johnny if it weren't for June.
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any "rituals" to calm you nerves.
~ Not usually nervous at all, but when I am, there is no rhyme or reason. I can sing to a stadium and feel totally at home and then walk onto a karaoke stage and freak out that people are looking at me. I guess it all depends on the day. I have no remedies unfortunately, although I used to take a shot of port before my video shoots. That calmed me down. :-)
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ There are so many, but If I were to pick one, I'd say it was the many days that I have spent singing for the troops in the Middle East. You will never get a more appreciating audience and it feels like you are giving back. Still to this day it is the most fulfilling thing I have done in my career.
