Exclusive Interview with Jordan and Seth of Dugger Band

Dugger Band

About Dugger Band

  • Interview date: March 22, 2018

  • Country: USA (Greeneville, Tennessee)

Why country music ?
JORDAN: ‘Country Music’ is just ‘who we are.’ Having grown up in beautiful country that East Tennessee boasts, with songs like ‘Don’t Take The Girl’ (Tim McGraw) and ‘Check Yes Or No’ (George Strait) coming from the radio…
SETH: …the honest, simplistic songwriting, and the music itself (fiddle, steel guitar and acoustic guitar) just fit us naturally and comfortably.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
JORDAN: It’s tough to beat Kenny (Rogers) and Dolly (Parton).
SETH: We might like to hear what a collaboration between Patsy Cline and Brad Paisley might sound like. JORDAN: …and hope that Patsy has the same sense of humor!

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
JORDAN: That’s a hard question; Seth and I write a lot and all of our songs are our ‘babies.’
SETH: In this time, at this moment, our current single ‘East Tennessee Son,’ is pretty special.
JORDAN: The new single not only defines who we are and where we came from-both musically and personally-it’s our first single at country radio.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
UNANIMOUS: Brad Paisley.
JORDAN: Brad writes clever hooks and, maybe, he could help me with some cool guitar parts.
SETH: If folks can’t tell; we’re BIG fans of Brad Paisley!
JORDAN: Brad, give us a tweet sometime?

What is the one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
JORDAN: I can Salsa (Salsa Dance); I’m pretty good at the Merengue.
SETH: I was a little entrepreneur when I was young. I started a bookmark business in the 4th grade, followed with a sno-cone business and a sunflower farm!
JORDAN: That’s why Seth handles the books.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
JORDAN: Can we do this interview over lunch?
SETH: Are you related? LOL

What’s one question you are asked all of the time?
JORDAN: Are you twins?
SETH: Who is the oldest? …every one thinks I’m the ‘older brother.’)

You are not allowed to make music or to talk about music? How would you spend the day together?
JORDAN: I’d take my brother hunting.
SETH: Yeah, you’d have to be quite in the woods! I’d take Jordan to an amusement park; we wouldn’t have to be so quiet.

Johnny or June ?
JORDAN: Both! I think they complemented one another nicely.
SETH: I’d have to say ‘Johnny’; he was his own person and he IS ‘the man in black’.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
JORDAN: If you’re doing something you really care about, you should be a little nervous.
SETH: Our goal is to the best we can be.
JORDAN: We pray before we go on stage.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
JORDAN: For me, it was the first big tracking day at Ocean Way Studio for ‘East Tennessee Son;’ I felt plugged-in to the industry and the community, and I felt like we ‘belonged’.
SETH: I will never forget the first time we heard our single, ‘East Tennessee Son,’ sitting in Aunt Bea’s Restaurant; it wasn’t on the radio, it was in a restaurant. We kind of just looked around at all of the other patrons quietly pointing at ourselves to say: ‘yeah, that’s us!’ It was a fun moment.
