Exclusive Interview with Allie Louise
Why country music ?
~ Country Music tells a story; that’s one of the very reasons I fell in love with the genre because it allows me, as a singer and songwriter, to express raw emotion in a storyline.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ There are so many people I would be honored to perform a duet with. I have always dreamed of singing with Luke Bryan or Thomas Rhett! I admire their voices and their music, but there are so many other artists that I would truly enjoy the opportunity to perform with.
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ “Tell Me Now” is one of the songs that means the most to me. I co-wrote the song with Doug Kahan and Leeland Grant almost two years ago. I was just 15 at the time and I didn’t truly understand the song’s meaning from a “personal experience” perspective, but I was able to draw from others around me. The storyline, as of today and as of late, has hit home, and I understand the lyrics at a much deeper level now.
What artist would you like to write a song for to record?
~ I would enjoy the opportunity to write a song for Carrie Underwood; I feel like we have the same aesthetic when it comes to the sound of our songs.
What artist and artist’s career do you most admire and why?
~ I have always admired Taylor Swift (both personally and professionally). Taylor has always been a good role model and her songwriting is well done (always with a “twist”). Taylor’s music, career, character and accomplishments inspired me to start my music career. When I saw how young she was when she started pursuing her career, she moved me to do the same!
What is your all-time favorite country recording and why?
~ I really don’t have an all-time favorite; I enjoy so many different songs. It is hard to pick just one.
What new flavor do you think you bring to the country music format as a “stand-out?”
~ I think my voice stands out. I have had people tell me that my voice is very unique and that I don’t sound like anyone else on the radio. That’s a big compliment.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ A question that I wish Interviewers would ask is: “How has your career and music in general changed your life?” Answer: Music has always been my outlet. Songwriting enables me to express my emotions and tell my story–which provides comfort to me. Pursuing my career has also taught me so many different things and has afforded me so many opportunities that a lot of my peers haven’t yet enjoyed. Music has given me confidence and has allowed me to express myself. Without my career or music in general, my life would just would not be the same. Music is my lifeline.
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I had the chance to record at the amazing Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. Not only is the equipment at Blackbrid top notch, the studio itself is so well designed. Artists such as Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and Miranda Lambert have recorded in the very same studio!
What is the one question that interviewers ask you that you find the most difficult to answer? (Please provide the question and your best answer.)
~ “What is your favorite song?” This question seems so simple, but it is so difficult for me to answer because I don’t have just one favorite song. My favorite song changes on a daily basis, so my answer is would never be the same.
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I do still get nervous before I go up on stage and I truly believe that the nerves and butterflies will never go away. I don’t do any rituals to calm me down. The stage feels like my home and whenever I am on stage, I feel at peace. I know that once I walk on stage the nervousness will disappear into the air
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ The most memorable day in my music career is the first day I that I recorded in Nashville. I remember walking into the Blackbird Studios and I felt like it was a dream. The experience was so surreal; I’ll never forget the butterflies.
What would your fans be surprised to know about you?
~ I think my fans would be surprised to know that I listen to a lot of EDM. I enjoy artists such as Kygo, The Chainsmokers, Calvin Harris and Marshmello. Not many people expect a country singer to listen to EDM in their free time.
