Why country music ?
~ I grew up riding horses in Southern CA and there was always country music playing in the barn. I fell in love and haven’t stopped listening since. I love the stories we tell in country. I love the authenticity. I love writing it. Love it all!
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ George Straight and Faith Hill. I would so love that!!!
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ West Coast Cowgirl is so meaningful to me because it was my interpretation of an “anthem” for all my girls I grew up riding horses with. I wanted the words we belt out to pertain to us, so that song is SUPER special:)
Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ I would love to co-write with Shane McAnally! His writing chops are awesome. I have’t heard a Shane song I don’t like!
Whisky wine beer or water?
~ Wicked Tango Whiskey:)
Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ No comment, haha. There is one or maybe two, but I am not one to put my fellow artists on blast:)
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ I wish they would ask me the first and last name of the ex boyfriend who cheated on me that inspired a few of my songs. I can’t just go volunteering that info ya know!? 😉 Hahah!
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Some of the coolest studios I have been in are studios with HISTORY. To record in a space where legends also recorded trumps any interior design of a studio in my opinion.
Johnny or June ?
~ June. A woman so talented in so many arenas that was also a loving wife and mother is someone I aspire to be. She was a successful solo artist before she performed with Johnny. She actually wrote “Ring of Fire”. SO much talent and beauty!
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I have been on stage for so many years that I really feel at home up there. I usually quiet my mind beforehand and experience the gratitude for the opportunity. Or I joke around with my band. My band is pretty damn funny so that’s the best!
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ Man that’s a tough one! Each day of my journey has molded me as an artist and woman. I would have to say preparing to play Route 91 Harvest festival with headliners like Tim McGraw and Keith Urban has been monumental and exciting as HELL!!
