If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Without a doubt Taylor Swift and Jake Owen. They are both so fun and so entertaining I think they would be perfect.
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ Though “Carolina Water” is my number one song I’m promoting and I do love it, “Bloom” means the most to me. Its just super cute and it’s what probably every girl goesthrough with a boy. Always wondering if the boy loves you or loves you not and someday you might be picked.
Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Carrie Underwood hands down. If she wrote a song for me I think I would literally pass out. I love how she incorporates her faith into her songs and even though I love Taylor Swifts love songs, Carrie tells stories about someone’s life. Her writing a song for me would be absolutely amazing and I would love to be able to learn from her.
What is one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
~ Growing up, I auditioned for plays, singing competitions, etc. and was always told “no” even though I knew I wasn’t bad. Starting at about 5th grade to actually now I have been bullied. I’ve been told I’m a terrible singer, I’m not good enough, I’ll never make it, you are to Christian, I don’t belong, too ugly, too tall and so on. I am a very confident person, so all the No’s give me all the motivation in the world to prove myself. I know God gave me the talent and gift of singing for a reason. Any gift God has given you isn’t meant to be hidden, he wants you to share it with the world no matter what people think of you or how crazy people think you are. I know I’m meant to do this and I’m meant to be an inspiration.
Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ I will never say a song shouldn’t be on the radio. Just because I don’t necessarily love a song that doesn’t mean someone else doesn’t love it. A song that means everything to me may mean nothing to someone else, or a song that means nothing to me may mean everything to someone. I believe every song has a story and that song could be changing someone’s life. Sure songs get over played and become annoying but that doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t be on the radio.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ Why do I believe I can make it in the industry? The one and only answer for this question is because, God is by my side. He has brought me this far; he has opened doors and closed doors for me. (which are not fun, but better doors opened) I know he will never let me down, I may not understand at times but I know he’s got the best plan out there for me. My faith has given me the strength to stand up for who I am and what I believe in. Making it into the industry from the mentor’s I have, they’ve told me that people lose sight of who they are and they let the industry change them so they struggle. I know God will never leave me and losing who I am is not going to be an option in my life. I will not compromise my faith.
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Well considering the only recording studio I have ever been in is Smoakstack Studios I would have to choose them, even though I would pick them anyway. They have such a cool place. It’s a little Nashville house on the outside but the minute you walk in those doors it is the cutest and coolest place. It has a ton of guitars all over the walls, its just super calming. Oh! And the couch is super comfy!
Johnny or June ?
~ Since I am so young and listened to country music later in my life, honestly I didn’t listen too much of either of them but if I had to choose I would choose Johnny. My parents grew up listening to him and from what I have heard of him he was a pretty incredible singer. I do love Ring of Fire though.
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ Thankfully, so far I haven’t gotten too nervous. I’d call it more excited. Before I perform, my family prays before I go on. God has his way of calming me down and giving me the confidence that I am going to nail it, so if I do have any nerves they all disappear and I have all the confidence in the world. My mom and my sister are the ones who get really nervous for me.
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ Putting my official music video to Carolina Water out and my EP on I Tunes was the most memorable so far. It made everything finally seem real. All my practicing and writing finally came to light and I actually had a product that I could say was mine and now I’m blessed to promote it.Even though I’ve only been doing this for 2 years, it seems like an eternity to me and I can’t wait to record more of the songs that I have written and will continue to write.
