Why country music ?
~ I have experimented with many different kinds of music, and I generally enjoy most genres, but country music has always felt like coming home to me. I grew up on it. Something about the steel guitars, blatant honesty and the idea that working hard enough can get you anywhere has always hit me right in the heart.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Don Henley and Grace Potter.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ “No Where Left to Roam”, the first single from my record, “The Freedom EP”! Writing this song marked a new direction in my songwriting career and also my outlook on life. I had decided that being happy is much more fun that worrying about feeling bad.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
~ Spare time, what’s that?? I love music, so most of my time is happily consumed with it. I am a very outdoorsy person, so I love hiking, camping and fishing. I try to find time to do those things when I travel to beautiful places on tour.

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ That choice is subjective to so many things! Mood, time of day, season, weight of emotional baggage, Right now a rich, red wine sounds pretty good 🙂

If you could turn back time to make only one change regarding your musical career, what would you change?
~ There are many occasions that I wish Future Me would’ve been around to remind Present Me not to worry. Hardships will pass, obstacles will be over come, the sun will still come up each morning and music will still be Love.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ What is your favorite tree? White pine, thank you for asking.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I would love to record a record to tape someday. The studio can be somewhere in the mountains of Washington state, with state of the art equipment, inspired engineers and musicians and no time limits. It would smell like cedar and sage and there would be lots of snacks and squishy couches.

Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny. He didn’t take no crap from nobody.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I’ve been performing so often for so long that the stage is a very comfortable place for me. But I always feel excited to play. I love it!

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ What a difficult question! There are so many moments that stand out to me as special. One memory in particular that strikes me is a country show that I played biannually in my hometown from about age 13 to 18. When I was 16 I performed “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks alone on my acoustic guitar for 1100 people. It was an emotional time for me for some unremembered teenaged reason, and I poured my whole heart and soul into that song. When I finished, there was a full 10 seconds of silence followed by explosive applause and a standing ovation. I realized for the first time the strong impact music can have, and the power and responsibility I have as a musician to move people to FEEL.
