Exclusive Interview with Jason Scott Hook

Jason Scott Hook

About Jason Scott Hook

Why country music ?
~ Because it’s my passion, it’s what I love. Its my life, what I’ve been through. George Jones said it best when he said it in his song Whos Gonna Fill Their Shoes "the heart of country music still beats within us all."

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ American. It’s a song about how our soldiers fight for our country so that we can be free and how I’m proud to be an American and my children are raised to be proud American’s too.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Hank Williams Sr

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ Whiskey, Jim Beam to be exact.

If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ I would have started seriously singing and taking my career a lot more seriously a lot sooner.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ Would you like to have dinner at Olive Garden? Why yes, I would!

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ Laid back atmosphere, pot of hot coffee and when the music is playing it sounds like you want it to sound. Old school where talent was pure and untouched by computer enhancements.

Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny. He’s always been someone I’ve looked up to. He overcame many obstacles in his day and had a good woman that helped him through many tribulations. Personally I’ve been through similar situations and have found my "June" as well.

Give us your top 3 country songs ever.
~ Folsom Prison Blues, He Stopped Loving Her Today, You Never Call Me By My Name

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ March 21, 2010. The day I signed my first contract. For many, many years people told me I wasn’t good enough to make it. In late February 2010 my wife’s grandpa told me I would make it on my next trip to Nashville. He passed on March 3. Our next trip to Nashville for a showcase was March 20th. I was signed March 21st and haven’t looked back.
