Why country music ?
~ I was born Country.

What is the one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
~ I used to repair espresso machines and I still roast my own coffee. Or maybe the wrecks I’ve had. I hit a moose while riding a motorcycle once, then another time I got side swiped by a load of Llamas. Or maybe I worked the ’89 Alaska Valdeze / Exxon Oil spill and stayed at sea 3 ½ months without touching land. I suppose there are lots of things that surprise people about me. Other than my voice that is. I think people are always surprised I sing what I sing when I look like I do. The biker don’t wash off.

If you could pick out any bike you wanted, what would be your choice ?
~ I assume you mean Motorcycles and a Harley Davidson Road King – Brand freakin New – and Black on Black.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ It’s a tossup between “Bury Me on Sunday” and “It Ain’t Over Yet” They both come from the heart, one is about death and parting and the other is about Love and Living. They both “weigh” a lot on the heart, know what I mean?

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Living in the Texas Hill Country I am privileged to count so many award winning and hit songwriters as my friends. Even though I think I’d have to say. Rodger Miller. You never said I couldn’t choose a dead guy.

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ Beer and Weed.

If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ I sit here and I’m thinking it’s pretty good I can’t think of too many regrets. ONE thing? Maybe I’da started drinking sooner.. haha.. OK.. I will say this. I would not have gotten married so young with my first marriage. I did that too young. That’s about all I got.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ Interviewers never ask about religion or politics and those are subjects I’m not afraid of. Ask me something.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I am going to get to live my dream studio experience. I have the chance to record at Bizmeaux studidos here in Austin, TX next year. Thanks to my friend Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel); the icing on the wish cake would be Lloyd Mains as producer.

Johnny or June ?
~ I met them both and they both were just as nice as they can be. Bought underwear with Johnny. Long story.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I am not nervous to go on stage I’m anxious. That’s different. Fear has nothing to do with it, I’m ready to be out there.

~ The definition of country music has changed. What Nashville calls country music, ain’t country music no more.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ I can’t remember.
