~ Some people might not even consider what I play to be country. It is definitely not commercial country. I Think the best artist are true representatives of where they come from and the culture they are part of. I was born and raised in a small town south of Nashville but now I live in the mountains of Trinity County California. so it's a blend of those two regions. My music just comes out the way it does.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ I personally think the ultimate duets have already been song by Waylon Jennings Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ The Other Side. Because, it was the one good thing that came out of a terrible experience with a run-in with the law in Orange Texas. The best songs often come from terrible situations. That's the great thing about music it can take the worst situation you can imagine and somehow bring an element of beauty. If presented properly.
Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ The person who can write the best songs for me is me. But if I had to pick one songwriter there is no other guy than Bob Dylan even Johnny Cash said he was the best songwriter that ever lived.
Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ Achy Breaky heart it just seems to embody that commercial twainy sound I despise if people love it good for them we all like different things.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and...you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ What was it like to work with Bob Johnston? Unfortunately, I cannot answer that in just a few lines. All you have to do is listen to the recordings he produced and you will see a theme of magic A continuum.
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ My album was recorded some of the finest studios in the country. We did the live tracking at house of blues studio in LA and finished focal work mixing and mastering at GBP Studio in East Lansing. Those studios had the finest engineers and the best gear possible vintage and modern. I cannot say enough great things about getting to work with Gary Belz and Glenn Brown.
Johnny or June ?
~ Cash. Because he is the man in black and he wore a little bit of darkness on his back.
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any "rituals" to calm you nerves.
~ I do get a little nervous but I use that energy in the performance. Because it is not so taboo anymore and considering the many states where Marijuana legalization has been voted into law. I find that cannabis is a tremendous tool for many great musicians And it helps the nerves.
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ The most memorable moment in my musical career was when we were listening back to the rough mix of my album and Bob turned to me and said there's your hit kid. That was the happiest moment of my life getting to live my dream in the studio with this legendary producer not only happy about the work but proud.
