About Kyle Park

  • Interview date: June 6, 2012

  • Country: USA (Leander, Texas)

Why country music ?
~ I grew up in Leander, Texas which is just outside of Austin. Knowing country music is almost a prerequisite to call yourself a Texan, and my parents listened to country music when I was growing up. I enjoy listening to all different styles of music, but country music is my favorite.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Merle Haggard and George Strait.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ All the songs I have written mean something to me, but I would have to say my most recent songs I have written mean the most. I’ve been in the studio the past 2 weeks recording the 8 most recent songs I’ve written. I always hope my most recent song is better than the last. The new songs are always more fun to sing as well.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Dean Dillon for sure. He’s written more hit songs than anyone I know, and I know if he wrote a song for me, it would be a #1 hit.

Whisky wine beer or water?
~ Golf. Those liquids are always a fun combination when golfing! I play regularly and enjoy the game very much.

If you could turn back time to make only one change, what would you change?
~ I wouldn’t change anything. Everything works out like it is supposed to. You have many choices in life, and you make your own choices. Always and try and make the best choice. I feel like I could have made a few different choices in my life, but I am pretty happy with the outcome so far.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ Interviewers never ask about how it feels to see hundreds – if not thousands – of people singing along to a song you’ve written. And the answer is that it feels incredible. You just can’t beat it. For me writing a song is special, and to see fans sing it and enjoy it makes it so much more special.

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ The ultimate recording studio would have all the latest and greatest recording gear, a 9 hole golf course, fishing lake, a hot tub, exotic animals to hunt, a chef, a fully stocked bar, video games, a helicopter to pick you up, and a giant master bedroom just for you when you want to take a nap. I’m sure I’ve left out a few things! Haha..

Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny. He was incredible. There will never be another story like that in today’s music world. God Bless Johnny Cash.

What song or recording artists, as a teenager, do you hate to admit (now) that you actually liked?
~ I’ll never admit who!  I have to have at least some secrets!

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ I don’t know about the most memorable, but one that surely stands out is.. Once at a show in Lubbock TX years ago, I looked out at the crowd and realized, "There’s enough people in the audience tonight that I’ll be able to pay for hotels, gas, food, and each band member makes their cut.  And I walked away with extra money!  That’s when I decided that this was what I was meant to do.  No matter how rich or poor I might end up, performing music on stage is the only thing that I ever want to do.
