Marty Rivers, also known as “The Maltese Falcon”, is our first Maltese Country Singer and Songwriter on the Country Startpage! In 2018 he released his new album called Maltese Falcon, hitting the number 1 spot on the HotDisc Top 40 Charts with his song “February of ’59”! Ready everything about Marty Rivers below:
Why country music ?
~ What else? Actually I do like some other good music from other genres but since childhood I always felt that there’s a sense of honesty in country songs that is missing from other genres. Songs that speak about life and touch the heart.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Hank Williams singing ‘I’m so lonesome I could cry’ with George Jones.
What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ ‘Forever Yours’, last song on my latest album ‘Midnight Sky’; when I started working on this song I felt a strange presence next to me; I was kinda driven by this spirit present in the room at that very moment.
Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ I’ll say Kristofferson or John Prine
Whisky wine beer or water?
~ If you’ve asked me this question a couple of years ago I was gonna answer beer for breakfast whiskey for lunch and wine for dinner but nowadays I stick to water.
Marty Rivers Single: February of ’59 – released almost 8 years after this interview with “The Maltese Falcon”.
What is the question interviewers never asked you while you were always hoping they would. (and give us your answer)?
~ Do you mind if we let everyone know that your latest album ‘Midnight sky’ is indeed our favorite country album at the moment?
No, I don’t mind at all, go ahead do it!
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ A place that makes you feel welcome as soon as you walk in and if possible situated in a rural area where the beauty of nature is visible from the premises’ windows.
Johnny or June ?
~ June was a very lovely person but definitely Johnny.
Give us your top 3 country songs ever.
~ Cold, cold, heart – Hank Williams
Good year for the roses – George Jones
The Blues man – Hank Williams Jr.
We love to bring our readers exclusive scoops, so what would you like to share with our readers ?
~ This coming week we’re going to start shooting a music video for a song from my brand new cd and it’s going to be my first album ever that is going to have an official launching party on my native island of Malta.
