Why country music ?
~ Country music is just stories about the life I know. I grew up living the songs I love.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~Chris Stapleton and Reba.
How long does it take you to write a new song from very first beginning until the moment you think it’s “perfect?”
~ It really varies. The song has to pick me so sometimes that takes longer than others. I just have to be patient and work consistently until the time is right and then everything flows together. I have had it happen in 15 minutes and I’ve had to wait over a year. It’s just the nature of songwriting for me.
Whisky, beer, or wine?
Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ There are certainly times I wish radio had more variety but I wouldn’t doom a song for radio play just because it gets a lot of play, or for any reason for that matter.
What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ I just like it when interviewers have a conversation with me. I don’t like to steer it and I love when I find an interviewer that can roll with it. When we are just chatting we become just two humans spending quality time getting to know each other. It’s more rare than you would think and it’s a special treat.
You were named one of the “Top 10 Sexy Men of Nashville.” Can you give us your top 3 sexy women of Nashville?
~ Gosh there are so many! Nashville is a beautiful city with so many beautiful people. If I had to choose three I would say, Kellie Pickler, Carly Pearce, and Julie Roberts (remember her?!)
Johnny or June? (and tell us the reason behind your choice.)
~ June because I can relate to the rebellious nature of Johnny and he found the perfect woman for him. So I have to be a fan of a woman like June in hopes that I can find someone like her to accept me and make me a better man all at the same time!
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I don’t think I would call it nervous anymore as much as excitement. I know that’s a fine line but I just get amped and ready to go. Sometimes I get so amped it definitely looks like nerves. HAHA! I just say a quick prayer and jump up and down a few times and I’m ready to go!
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ We played a show for a big Fourth of July event with several thousand screaming fans. Fireworks in the back and screaming people from the edge of the stage to what seemed like out of sight in the front! This was early in my career and it solidified that I am right where I belong when I’m on stage!
