Exclusive Interview with Margie Singleton
Why country music ?
~ Well I guess I was born with the desire to sing and right country music songs. Of course I do like all genres of music, blues , rock 'n' roll, gospel and country, which I suppose my music and writing has a little bit of all those in it.
If everything would be possible (waking the dead included), which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Leon Ashley and Margie Singleton !!! LOLLOLLOL
Seriously I am proud of our blend and sound together. But since Leon is gone, I wouldn't mind doing a Duet with Jerry Lee Lewis.
What is the one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
~ I really don't know , because my life is pretty much an open book. Maybe what most people don't know is that I was married at 13 years old. A mother at 14.
Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ Not saying what song I don't want to hear on the radio!!
Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ I have two memorable studios that were my favorites. Columbia/ Owen Bradley Studio and RCA / Studio B. I spent the better part of 5 years Recording in those studios and have wonderful memories of those places and times.
Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any "rituals" to calm you nerves.
~ There are always a few butterflies when I go on stage. To keep that from happening is to be well rehearsed and say a prayer before going on.
What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ Most memorable day is when I walked on the stage of the Ryman Auditorium with Ray Stevens and Priscilla Mitchell as my backup singers and sang my Top Ten Song "OLD RECORDS".
