Why country music ?
~ My parents had a great record collection of American roots music. Instead of hearing Disney songs I was listening from a very young age to Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Leadbelly, Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Mahalia Jackson, etc. I was very fortunate.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ On my new record, Sometimes Jesse James, there’s a song called The Best Day of our Lives which is very important to me since it’s mostly biographical. Listen to the lyrics and you’ll get it.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ Steve Earle

What two people, living or dead, do you think should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ I’ll stick with living singers. Emmy Lou Harris and Chris Stapleton.

Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ “I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than to have a frontal lobotomy”. It was ok once but……..

What is the one thing that readers would be surprised to know about you?
~ My father worked for the American embassy so I did not grow up in the US.

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ The question I never get asked’ “Why are you so damned good looking?”

Describe the ultimate recording studio (not the technique but the facilities)
~ For me I think I’ve found it. We record the drums, bass and and what ever else we can keep at Sonic Boom Room in Venice California. It has a great drum room with everything already miked up. Nice secluded garden next to it where we can take a break and chill. The rest of the recording is done at Muscletone Studios which is owned by our producer, Ira Ingber. He always has a nice whiskey read.

Johnny or June ?
~ Yin Yang. Get rid of the or. There would have not been a Cash for nearly as long as we had him without June. Not to mention the greatness of the Carter family.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I still have some nerves before performing but it’s the good ones. Plus I have a beer and a shot of the worst tequila in the house before starting. Then it’s all good.

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ I’m still waiting on it.
