Why country music ?
~ Country music has always been it for us. But it became really apparent when we bought our farm when we were young. I remember our parents saying, “well we have to play country music now because we are from the country” and it never really stopped. Once we all began to fall in love with the sound and the stories there was no turning back. I remember being made fun of for liking country music, but I was so convinced by it that it did not matter what people thought.

If everything would be possible (waking the dead included) , which two people should sing the ultimate country duet?
~ Wow… that is a heavy question… but I think I would love to hear Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley sing a song together. A true country ballad that brings both of their unique amazing voices together in a magical way! That would be breathtaking.

What song you ever recorded means the most to you and why?
~ Hmmm… the song that means the most to us… would have to be “Hometown Kids.” Although it may not seem this way, the opportunity to release “Hometown Kids”, was a battle for many years. We released a couple of songs before this and fought for this dream for a long time. It wasn’t until someone (who means the world to us) saw how hard we had worked and the effort that we put into everything that he decided to take a chance on us! He helped us to get signed to Universal Music Canada, and put us in rooms with writers who took the time to ask us “who we were” and “what we wanted to say.” “Hometown Kids” was the first song we ever wrote with these writers and the first song to be released on a major label… so yeah… “Hometown Kids” takes the cake.

Who would you like to write a song for you?
~ We would love if Sam Hunt or Florida Georgia line could write a song for us! We feel that we are trying to say some of the same things and feel that we would suit their taste in sounds and direction of songs! We also think that Julia Michaels is a monster in the writing room, and it would be amazing to see the type of song we could get out of her if she took a country standpoint on the lyrics and melodies.

What is the one thing that readers/fans would be surprised to know about you?
~ They may be surprised to know that we are from a family of 7 (including our parents), Stu is the only boy, sandwiched between 4 girls! So, he is pretty much the prince. We also grew up on an adventure farm called “YeeHaw Adventure Farm” which was open to the public on weekends in October, and we were the half-time show at the pig races (yes we said pig races)!

Give us one country song you never want to hear on radio anymore and tell us why.
~ Holy, hmmm, these are tough! Let’s see… maybe “Wagon Wheel” only because with the number of shows we have played and the number of times it has played on the radio, we cannot seem to get through it anymore! I’m sure if I had a break from it, even just for a little I would be right back on the “wagon” loving it again! But some songs just need time to breath! lol

What is the question interviewers never seem to ask you and…you wish they would? (Please provide your answer as well.)
~ What would you like to eat? A: Pizza!

How would you spend a day together where you weren’t allowed to make or talk about music?
~ It would be with our friends, maybe having a little house party! Jamming to music (notice I did not say making or talking about) hopefully creating a little bonfire, because it is nice outside, and everyone is coming over to hang!

Johnny or June ?
~ Johnny.

Are you still nervous before going on stage and if so, do you use any “rituals” to calm you nerves.
~ I (Jenna) and usually nervous, I actually get really rude and I don’t mean to… it’s just my way of getting prepared. Anyone close to me knows that before a show they shouldn’t take anything I say too seriously lol! To make ourselves feel prepped, we usually do a vocal warm-up as well as a band prayer! We believe faith is what got us here and it helps us to see the bigger picture in every show and performance we do!

What was the most memorable day in your musical career and tell us why.
~ The most memorable day was when we won the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase in 2013. It was so exciting for us to be named number 1, but it is even more special when we look back! Because its crazy to see that every person who has a hand in who we are today, came out of that festival! The connections we were making seemed so minuscule at the time, but looking back they were connections that would change our lives forever! So be kind to everyone you encounter, because they could change your life one day!
